including the proton density, machine-dependent gain factor and the echo term. Optimisation of flip angles when imaging samples with a large R1 range of values has been far from trivial and little work has been published on this subject [1, 2]. During the optimisation, it is important that the actual distribution of R1 values in the image sample is taken into account. We propose a novel flip angle optimisation approach, based on the Cramer-Rao lower bound (CRLB) theory, which is weighted by the probability distribution of the R1 range of interest.

Feasibility of a fast method for B1-inhomogeneity correction for FSPGR sequences.
The Fast Spoiled Gradient Echo (FSPGR) sequence is often used in MRI to create T1-weighted images. The signal intensity generated by this sequence depends on the applied flip angle. Knowing the correct flip angle is essential for the determination of T1-maps by means of an FSPGR based Variable Flip Angle (VFA) approach. Also, quantitatively determining the concentration of contrast agent in cas...
متن کاملImproved Cramer-Rao Inequality for Randomly Censored Data
As an application of the improved Cauchy-Schwartz inequality due to Walker (Statist. Probab. Lett. (2017) 122:86-90), we obtain an improved version of the Cramer-Rao inequality for randomly censored data derived by Abdushukurov and Kim (J. Soviet. Math. (1987) pp. 2171-2185). We derive a lower bound of Bhattacharya type for the mean square error of a parametric function based on randomly censor...
متن کاملT1 corrected multipeak T2*-IDEAL gradient-echo imaging for the quantification of intermuscular adipose tissue
Introduction: Intermuscular adipose tissue (IMAT) has been recently associated with different metabolic abnormalities including obesity and insulin resistance [1]. The distribution and the total amount of IMAT have been traditionally assessed using T1-weighted imaging [1]. However, quantification of IMAT based on T1-weighted imaging is limited by partial volume effects and requires effective se...
متن کاملAn optimized T1nom Approach for Super Fast Measuring Enzyme Kinetics in vivo using Saturation Transfer Technique
Introduction Magnetization saturation transfer (ST) is a most commonly used technique in P MRS to non-invasively measure the enzyme kinetics of phosphoryl-exchange reactions such as the creatine kinase (CK) and ATPase reactions. Despite of the simple algorithm for quantification of unidirectional kinetic constant, the lengthy acquisition time of conventional ST approach precludes the applicatio...
متن کاملRapid Parametric Mapping of the Longitudinal Relaxation Time T1 Using Two-Dimensional Variable Flip Angle Magnetic Resonance Imaging at 1.5 Tesla, 3 Tesla, and 7 Tesla
INTRODUCTION Visual but subjective reading of longitudinal relaxation time (T1) weighted magnetic resonance images is commonly used for the detection of brain pathologies. For this non-quantitative measure, diagnostic quality depends on hardware configuration, imaging parameters, radio frequency transmission field (B1+) uniformity, as well as observer experience. Parametric quantification of th...
